4/15/21 Fact of the Fortnight: The “Know Your Contract” Series - Article 15: Compensation

Did you know? This is a continuation of our Fact of the Fortnight series called “Know Your Contract.” Today we will be introducing an article from the PFF-District Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that is up for negotiations - Article 15: Compensation. The complete article is available at the PFF-District Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Facts:

Compensation for full-time and part-time instructional faculty members, ECELS teachers, counselors, DRC instructors, and librarians each have specific compensation outlined in Article 15 and the corresponding appendices.

Appendix G lists the salary or hourly wage rates. The schedules differ for Full-time faculty, Part-time faculty, Overload, 10 and 11 month schedules, and both instructional and non-instructional rates.

Wages are based on a step and grade system, and faculty can move grades through educational attainment and steps through length of service.

Article 15 also deals with compensation for Part-time faculty for office hours, professional development, cancelled class pay, and shared governance.

PFF is holding two upcoming listening sessions to get your feedback and guidance concerning Article 15, Article 4 (workloads) and Article 20 (Working Conditions):

Listening Session 1 on Apr 19, 2021 at 1:00 PM, Meeting ID: 847 7139 7058

Listening Session 2 on Apr 22, 2021 at 3:00 PM, Meeting ID: 863 5014 4395

Bottom Line: Compensation is one of the most important parts of the PFF/District Contract, and it is what allows our faculty to put “food on the table”. We take the negotiations around Article 15 very seriously. We hope you will join us at one of our upcoming listening sessions to give your input to the PFF negotiations team.
