More Negotiations Updates from PFF

Hello Faculty Colleagues-

This summer has been a busy one! We know that not everyone checks their email during the summer, but we want to make sure we keep everyone up to date on the negotiations process. We’ve been working all summer, and the news keeps coming…

Since our last BIG update on 7/7/21 (check your email or our PFF homepage), the following has happened (pending expected Board approval):

We signed an MOU with the District (see attached) that provides 5.07% COLA to all faculty (full and part-time faculty and full-time ECELS) salary scales, stipends, and compensation. We received the feedback on our poll related to distributing COLA in a different way to help improve pay equity for our part-time colleagues, and while we were unable to garner enough support to make any change right now, we are committed to pursuing ways to increase compensation for part-time faculty. Stay tuned in the fall for more ideas, information, and opportunities to get involved in the campaign for equity! This COLA increase will most likely take effect in the August pay cycle, with retroactive pay for July 2021 appearing in the September pay cycle. This 5.07% COLA will not preclude us from pursuing other compensatory increases in our upcoming Article 15 negotiations.

The deadline for reimbursement for internet expenses and work-from-home materials and supplies (as outlined in our 7/7 update) has been changed to September 30th (see attached). Please make sure to read the instructions for submission carefully and watch or participate in the training provided by HR. All information is available here (under Telecommuting, partway down the page). This is available to all faculty, both full and part-time.

The accessibility compensation form (available to all faculty) is active and available here (last link under Faculty Forms).

The District will be releasing the COVID-19 Recovery Plan in the next week or so, outlining guidelines and precautions for the Fall 2021 semester. Stay tuned for emails from the District with this important information.

The work continues, and we will keep you updated as things occur. Enjoy the last month of summer break, and we look forward to seeing everyone at plenary in August!

In Unity,

Your PFF Negotiations Team Jenny Fererro, Barbara Baer, Teresa Laughlin, Lawrence Hamilton Lawson
